Well, the new President of the United States, Barack Obama, stated this in his autobiography, The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream (New York: Crown Publishers, 2006). It is actually a very similar statement to that made by the President in his inaugural address earlier this month.

Where Did It Appear?
Well, it has also appeared in the Washington Post newspaper, January 20, 2009, in a major advertisement placed by the American Humanist Association. In addition, beside the photograph of President Obama in this major American newspaper are the words, "Living Proof that Family Values Without Religion Build Character" (based on a reference to another quote made by President Obama concerning his family upbringing). At the bottom of the advertisement it states: "Congratulations From The American Humanist Association . . . being good without god since 1941."
